🇵🇷 August 12 Committee Update: Moving Forward Safely and Together 🇵🇷

Our August 12 committee update covers the safety plan, 19 confirmed vendors and partners, and preparations for the September 12 Boricua Block Party in Cleveland.

Cleveland Boricua families, vendors, and organizers preparing together for a safe community block party

We are moving forward with confidence, preparation, and a commitment to keeping our community safe.

The Boricua Block Party committee is excited to share an important update about our plans for September 12, 2026.

We understand that organizing an event of this size on a short timeline has created questions. Some people believe September 12 may be too soon. We respect those concerns, and we recognize that some details are still unknown. However, our committee believes we have made enough progress—and have the community support, commitment, and determination needed—to move forward responsibly.

Our goal is not simply to hold a block party. We are working to create a safe, organized, and welcoming celebration where families can experience Puerto Rican culture and local entrepreneurs can proudly showcase their products, services, and businesses to the Cleveland community.

Keeping our community safe

Safety remains one of our highest priorities. We are coordinating with the City of Cleveland and communicating with public-safety representatives as we develop the final event plan.

Our preparations include clearly marked entrances and exits, open emergency lanes, accessible routes, traffic and parking guidance, trained volunteers, first-aid support, family-reunification procedures, weather monitoring, and organized placement for vendors, performers, and activities.

We are also planning how information will be communicated before and during the event so attendees can receive important updates about parking, street closures, weather, safety, accessibility, and schedule changes.

Final entrance locations, parking instructions, street closures, emergency routes, and the public event map will be released after they are confirmed and approved.

Nineteen confirmed vendors and partners

We are proud to currently have 19 confirmed vendors, sponsors, and community partners represented in our event directory.

This growing group includes food and beverage businesses, makers, family attractions, creative businesses, community organizations, schools, sponsors, media partners, and DJs.

We are grateful to every business owner and organization that believes in this celebration. Our vendors deserve an opportunity to introduce their food, products, talents, and services to new customers while building meaningful relationships with the Cleveland community.

Every participating vendor must also follow event rules and complete any applicable permit, license, insurance, health, fire, and inspection requirements before the event.

Meet the confirmed vendors

What we are planning for September 12

The Boricua Block Party is being developed as a celebration of Puerto Rican culture, family, music, food, art, entrepreneurship, and neighborhood pride.

  • Puerto Rican and Latin music
  • Local food and beverage vendors
  • Small businesses and community organizations
  • Family-friendly activities
  • Cultural and artistic experiences
  • Opportunities to support Cleveland entrepreneurs
  • Safety, accessibility, and visitor-information stations
  • A welcoming environment for families and neighbors

Some details are still being finalized. We will only publish schedules, maps, parking information, street closures, and operating instructions after they are officially confirmed.

Prepared to move forward

We are excited about what we know—and even about what remains unknown—because every meaningful community event begins with a vision and people willing to do the work.

Confidence does not mean ignoring challenges. It means recognizing those challenges, preparing for them, asking for help, and continuing to strengthen the plan.

We believe our committee and community are prepared to do that work. We are moving forward carefully, responsibly, and confidently because we believe we can create something positive for the public, our vendors, and the entire Cleveland community.

To everyone who has registered, applied, volunteered, partnered with us, shared the event, or offered encouragement: thank you. Your support is helping turn this vision into a real celebration.
