🇵🇷 We Were Heard—and We’re Moving Forward Together 🇵🇷

An update following today’s committee hearing, including our commitment to safety, additional planning time, and the growing regional need for OUR Boricua Block Party.

Puerto Rican community organizers presenting Boricua Block Party safety and planning priorities during a Cleveland committee hearing

Today, we stood before the committee to share the vision for Boricua Block Party. There were many questions, important concerns, and honest conversations about what it will take to make this celebration successful.

We are proud of how we represented our community. We listened, answered what we could, and recognized where more work is needed. One thing became clearer than ever: the safety of our neighbors, families, vendors, volunteers, and guests must always come first.

With that responsibility in mind, we moved the event to September 12, 2026. This additional time allows us to strengthen the plan, address the committee’s questions, and make meaningful improvements while moving forward responsibly.

We have also received confirmation from people in other counties that there is a real need for the presence of OUR Boricua Block Party. This vision reaches beyond one neighborhood. People want a place where our culture can be celebrated, our businesses can be supported, and Boricua families from across the region can come together.

To everyone who has invested their time, energy, resources, ideas, and love into this celebration—thank you. Together, we made enough noise to be heard. The support surrounding this event has shown us how deeply our community wants a space that proudly honors Puerto Rican culture.

To those who may still feel uncertain or reluctant: we understand, and we heard your concerns. Your questions matter. We are going back to the drawing board with open minds, stronger information, and an even greater commitment to doing this responsibly.

This is not the end of the journey. It is an opportunity to improve the plan and build something worthy of the community that made it possible. We are already thinking beyond this year and preparing for what Boricua Block Party can become in Cleveland and surrounding counties.

Thank you for believing in the vision, holding us accountable, and helping us grow. We remain grateful, encouraged, and ready to keep working.

This community made the vision big. Now it is our responsibility to build an event just as big. ¡Seguimos pa’lante! 🇵🇷
